John has been with the Institute since 1994. He has worked in a variety of areas, addressing and solving problems for clients, frequently as part of a team. He has an in-depth knowledge of many facets of the New Zealand economy and of the policy scene. John worked in the public sector for 25 years mostly advising on and managing the delivery of economic policy, but was also in general management, acted as director of an investment bank and served as a trade diplomat. John has degrees in philosophy, mathematics and economics. He has taught economics, management, law and economics and risk management, and currently contributes to the teaching of public policy management as part of the Master of Public Policy course at the Victoria University of Wellington. |
